How the Bail System works

Working with a licensed bail bondsman is often the fastest, easiest, and most affordable way to help someone get released from jail.

Arrest and Booking

When someone is arrested in Palm Beach County, they are booked at the jail. Booking includes:

– Fingerprinting and mugshots

– A background check

– Searching for weapons or contraband

– Confiscation of personal belongings (held until release)

This process can take 4–8 hours, sometimes longer. After booking, the **bail amount is set.

Phone Access:

From jail, inmates can only make collect calls to landlines. Our number is listed on the jail’s phone system, so inmates can call us directly, and we often help connect them to their loved ones.

Avoid jail phone credit card systems —they often fail and still charge your card. We strongly advise against using them.

Setting Bail in Palm Beach County

Bail is typically set by a county bail schedule, but judges also consider:

– The defendant’s criminal history

– Seriousness of the charges

– Whether the person is a flight risk

In some cases, bail could be tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Few people can afford to pay this amount upfront, which is why most turn to a bail bondsman.

Paying for Bail Full bail: You can pay the full amount to the jail with a cashier’s check, but you’ll wait months (or longer) for a refund—minus fees.

Using a bondsman: Most clients pay 10% of the total bail amount.

   – For a $20,000 bail, you would pay $2,000.

   – This fee is non-refundable but may include payment plans.
